Storyboarding Your Children's Picture Book: From Manuscript to Mock-up

Adult / Adult Enrichment -
Summer 2026

You’ve written the story — now how does it become a book? This engaging class walks you step-by-step through the storyboarding process for children’s picture books. We’ll cover ideal word counts, page planning, pacing through page turns, and how to think visually about illustration opportunities. You’ll also practice creating a simple booklet to see your story come to life. Great for aspiring and emerging picture book authors.

Writing has been my passion since I was in elementary school, but only recently have I done anything professional with it. In the past, I struggled to get answers to the various questions related to writing a quality children’s book, and then, how to get it published. After retiring, I took several courses on writing and researched what I couldn’t find in the courses. I learned a lot in that process. I self-published my first children’s picture book in December 2024, titled “A Rainbow of Orange”. Now, I want to help others accomplish their dream of publishing a children’s book, and I created this course to do that. I’d like to see others experience the joy of holding their own published book.

My book is currently available on Amazon and at bookstores like Barnes & Noble. I have had several book signing events, given presentations, and lead story-time at multiple schools, bookstores, and various events in Minnesota. Some of these include Bel Air Elementary in New Brighton, as well as multiple Barnes & Noble locations.
