Paula Pettis began watercolor painting in 2019. She has traveled to England, Italy, and Scotland to paint plein air. In October 2025, she plans to travel to Greece to paint on the island of Hydra. Her watercolors have been shown in the gallery at Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul, MN, and she has had both watercolors, and a graphite pencil drawing, on display at the Bakken Museum. In September 2024, her painting “Summer - White Bear Lake” was chosen to be displayed in the juried show “Into Nature Plein Air Exhibition” at White Bear Center for the Arts, and in October & November, it was shown in the Minnesota Watercolor Society’s Fall Exhibition “Light in Droplets.” Paula teaches watercolor classes through St. Anthony Community Services. She studies privately with Catherine Hearding, and has taken classes with Tara Sweeney.
