Intermediate Watercolor

Adult / Adult Enrichment -
Fall 2026

Build upon your beginning watercolor techniques by learning new techniques, elevating your current skills, and adding to your knowledge of beginning color theory. We will paint some from class examples that let you practice new skills, and some from your own photographs. This class is perfect for those with a little knowledge and experience with beginning watercolor.

Paula Pettis began watercolor painting in 2019. She has traveled to England, Italy, Scotland, and Greece to paint plein air. Her watercolors have been shown in the gallery at Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul, MN, at Blick Art Materials in Roseville, MN, and she has had both watercolors, and a graphite pencil drawing, on display at the Bakken Museum. In 2024, her painting “Summer - White Bear Lake” was chosen to be displayed in the juried show “Into Nature Plein Air Exhibition” at White Bear Center for the Arts, and in October & November, it was shown in the Minnesota Watercolor Society’s Fall Exhibition “Light in Droplets.” In 2026, her painting “The Way Life Should Be” was chosen to be displayed in the juried show “52nd Annual Northern Lights Juried Art Exhibition” at White Bear Center for the Arts. Paula teaches watercolor classes through St. Anthony-New Brighton Community Services. She studies privately with Catherine Hearding, and has taken classes with Tara Sweeney. She is a member of the Minnesota Watercolor Society, White Bear Center for the Arts, and Urban Sketchers Twin Cities. You can view Paula’s Watercolors at: Instagram.com/paulapettisart
